Michael Singer: Jai Guru Dev, Jai Masters. There are so many different ways to look at spiritual life, spiritual growth, really to look at life itself. When it’s all said and done, there’s some basic things you have to understand in order to go deep into this path. First, your awareness of being. We just use like words. Are you aware of that?
Are you conscious of what’s happening? Be more conscious. That’s blasphemy to use. Words like that. What is awareness? You don’t even bother. No one talks to you about it. You’re just aware. When in school did they discuss with you what awareness is? Never and it is the most important thing. In the entire universe.
Why? Without awareness, nothing has meaning. If you’re not aware of something, it’s not there, but it is there only ’cause somebody’s aware of it or somebody told you about it. Awareness is magic. It’s like, what is it? It’s something that knows that it knows that it knows what you’re aware of, and lots of those things aren’t there.
How many things are you aware of? What is awareness? That is yoga. That is spirituality. That is the essence of everything. Everything else is just noise. There’s mind. What’s awareness? Where’d it come from? How do I have it? Do you have it? Are you aware? Not? Are you aware of something? Are you aware? Better question.
Are you in there? How do you know? Because you’re aware of being in there. Okay, but you don’t know what awareness is. Tag, you’re it. It’s just that which is there and can focus on things. It is aware of things, but what awareness is itself that belongs to the great yogis? The understanding of where does it come from, what’s the source?
What’s nature, what is awareness? That’s where the deep meditators went. You don’t find what awareness is by being aware of something. What you find out is what you’re aware of and what’s it made out of and what’s its nature. You know, senator, scientists, they dig way down. They, they become aware of layer of layer, layer of things to be aware of.
But what is awareness? Without that, they’re not scientists. There are no better than a rock. What you’ll find, and you’ll find that at many different levels as you grow, is that awareness is who you are. That’s who you are. If you look in a mirror, you see an image that’s an object. Who sees it? You can see my mind does.
Yes. If your mind judges what you see, don’t you see your mind judging what you see? Oh my God, I’ve gained weight. Oh my God, I’m getting old. Oh my God. There are gray hair. How do you know? I’m aware you are the essence. The essence of your being, your soul. That’s what they mean by soul. They don’t know it.
The core of your being, and by the way, you might as well get it outta the bag, is awareness alive? I don’t know what that means. You are aware that something is alive. I can touch its throat right and carotid and see that it’s pulsing. I could see it was breathing. I could put a mirror up to his nose and see if it frosts.
I can be aware of something that I define as being alive is a rock alive. Well, if I do all those things, I don’t see nothing happening. Okay? It’s something you are aware of. Life is not what you are. What you mean by life? A living object. Something that’s living and breathing is something you, you’re aware of.
Do you ever see the difference? You’re aware of it. Are you aware that it’s breathing? Not who’s aware. Are you aware? It’s always subject object. You just take for granted. You’re aware. I don’t know what to tell you. You don’t even think about it. No one talks about it. No one teaches about it. Anything like that.
Okay, you’re just, okay, given you’re aware now, what are you aware of now? Whatcha gonna do about it? Whatcha, are you aware of what she said? Whatcha gonna do about it? What are you wait and see. Okay. But the key is the awareness itself. It’s there, obviously. So if you look in a mirror, are you aware of the reflection?
Are you the reflection? Of course not. You are the one that’s aware that there’s a reflection. While you are looking at the reflection, does your mind have something to say about it? It’s getting old. Had her gray hair. Oh, look how good she looks. I like my hair like that. Oh, she cut too much off. Are you aware that your mind is doing that?
Are you aware that something going on in your mind because your looks in the mirror? Doesn’t that happen? There’s an object you see outside. It causes something else to go inside your mind and sometimes your emotions, oh my God, I don’t like how I look. Oh, I feel terrible. You’re aware of the outside. It causes the mind, but you’re aware that the mind’s doing that aren’t you?
And you’re aware that the emotions went up or down. It’s the same awareness. The awareness that saw the outside is seeing the can you do them all at the same time? Can you look outside of someone and have somebody judging and saying things and you’re aware of all of it at the same time? Or do you have to compartmentalize and make a phone call?
You are awareness that is the core of your being. That’s who you are, and you’ve always been there, haven’t you? When you were five years old, didn’t look in the mirror. Did you see what it looks like now? Didn’t you see it? The awareness has no age, has no beginning and end inside of you. Everything I’m talking about is what’s meant by the self.
I don’t want to give it a name. No, don’t do that. You can, but why? Because that’s mine. The minute you give it a name, it’s part of your mental concept. What do you mean by self? What’s this nature? What’s this color? Is it Buddhist or Christian? You see what I’m saying? It’s like it just becomes a mental thing and you start thinking about it.
That which is watching you think about it is the self, but that’s not what it thinks about. It thinks about what the mind thinks about the self. Okay. It’s really beautiful. And the Jewish tradition, the real Hasidic Jewish deepal tradition, the rabbis, the Rees, they call ’em Rees, are taught. You never say the name of God.
You never write the name of God. That’s what it means. Have no form or image or symbol about me because that’s a mental concept and it has nothing to do with self. Self is that which sees it, right? So what it looks at is always way smaller than self, ’cause self can be aware of anything and then you’re performing these concepts.
What have you done? You’ve limited the universe to what you think Your universe is not limited, conscious, can be aware of anything. Can you walk into a church and see all the Jesus and cross symbols and so on and be conscious of them? Yes. Can you walk into a synagogue and see the Torahs and the. Turn a light, and so yes, can you walk into a Buddhist temple and see the incense in the Buddha and the GOs and the Buddhist sitting there sometimes with a big belly and sometimes thin as could be, which was he?
The answer is consciousness can be aware of anything. There’s nothing that consciousness could not be aware of. The problem is it goes into your mind and gets stuck in your mind. What does the object that you’re aware of builds This whole thing inside of this place called mind. Mind is not the self. The self looks at mind.
If you’re looking at something, you’re not. It. If you look at that car, you’re not the car, you’re the ones looking. If you look at that person, I don’t care how much you love them or hate them, you’re not the person. You’re conscious of this object, but you are not capable as human beings, most of ’em anyways, of being conscious of an object without it creating thoughts in your mind.
Take a breath. I like it. I don’t like it. I believe in it. I don’t believe in it. I can’t believe that happened. It wasn’t right. You formulate this stuff in your mind. You don’t formulate in the self. If your mind is saying, God, I really like this, I really want that. Or saying, I don’t like this at all. I’m so scared.
This’s the same consciousness is looking at both. And if you doubt. How fast can it change? How fast can that mind change? Somebody walks up to you and says, I’ve loved you since kindergarten. I’ve just been afraid and shy to say anything up to me. You walk on water. You’re the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.
I can’t even really get to talk to you. How you doing? I that’s doing pretty good. And their mind likes that, doesn’t it? Then all of a sudden they walk over. Somebody else say the exact same thing. How you doing? That’s how fast it changes. The same consciousness was aware of both states of your mind. If you’re in a state of deep depression.
You are not depressed. You are watching a depressed psyche. You are watching something that’s saying, oh my God, I’m so unhappy. Nothing will ever be okay. Why did they do that to me? It could change in a second. All that has to happen is something happen. You win the lottery, alright? Something happens and all of a sudden I’m like, wow, this is neat.
So you have to understand the difference between consciousness and object of consciousness. That’s the deepest spiritual thing. There’s consciousness. How many you won? One. I’m won. Conscious is the same, but what it’s aware of is all over the place. And what it does is the world itself outside. Let’s get this right, the world itself outside does its thing.
Which one of you decides what happens outside all the time? Okay. There are people who try and they made quite a mess. You know, who tried Hitler? He decided in his mind how things should be. There can be this type of people and that type of people, not those type of people. And this, this, and Germany owns the whole world and this and that and so on, and we control everything and this is how everything should be.
Every single thing. How’d it work out? That’s how it works out. By the way. That’s a Macrocosmic view. Of how trying to make the world outside be what your mind decided it should be. Why did he decide that? Go study psychology. I’m sure they’ve psychoanalyze the guy. Okay. You know, mommy and daddy and all kinds of stuff.
And so, but what happened? Because the world is. Real. It has forces that are causing it to be the way it is. It rains. When it rains, it snows. When it snows. It’s hot. When it’s hot. It’s cold. When it’s cold. People are nice. When they’re nice. They’re mean when they’re mean. There’s a reason. Doesn’t have to be that way, but it does.
Given all the forces that made it that way at a given moment, everything has to be, the way it’s at that moment doesn’t mean it can’t change. Why? Why is that to be the way it is? Because of all the force that made it that way. You can’t change them. You can’t say it shouldn’t have happened. It did. It’s not a moral judgment.
It’s not good. It’s not bad. It’s not right. It’s not wrong. It just is. He said what he said, then that’s what happened. He shouldn’t have, he did. Judge it all you want. You ain’t changing it. Every star, every atom, everything is where it is because of what made it be where it is at that moment. It’s science, right?
The whole thing is the most obvious thing in the world. Reality is reality. What is reality? That which already happened? Really? There’s nothing to think about it. It happened. It’s not gonna not happen. It shouldn’t have happened here. You shouldn’t have said that to me. I can’t believe you said to him. You shouldn’t have said that to me.
Okay, I understand. I don’t even like it. Let’s quiet down for a minute and be logical about this if you shouldn’t have said that to me. Why did it happen? Because you had a stomach ache, because you got a phone call before you saw me and made you sad because somebody just left you because the way I wore my hair.
What’s left reminded you of Uncle George who used to pinch your cheek and you hated it, and that made you say what you said to me. Aren’t all those forces combined together throughout your life causing what happened right now in you? They’re not random. It is a world of cause and effect, and there are billions and trillions of causes at every level.
The atom level, all the way up in molecules interacting and blah, blah, blah. In your DNA and what happened a minute ago, what happened a year ago? Do all these things determine what you said just right now, are there causes. That caused that moment in front of you to be the way it is. Okay? Then you can’t say it’s wrong.
You can say you don’t like it. You say, I wish it wasn’t that way. That’s your mental thing, but it happened. So you have a choice. A wise person has a choice. They do not say that reality should not have happened. I cannot say that these terrible things that happen, terrible things do terrible things happen in this world.
Our people mean to people. Kill people to you. Hurt people to you purposely hurt people. Okay? Are there reasons, were there forces in the past that coalesced together that caused to come up? What came up at that moment? I’m not saying it’s reasonable reason. I’m not say it’s goods bad, anything that’s caused cause and effect.
So you have a choice when you come into this world and what’s going on with your consciousness. The highest state, which is very difficult to reach, but it is reachable, is I am consciousness and what I’m conscious of is reality. And that’s it. How do you know you’re conscious of reality? ’cause that’s what’s there.
And the first thing you’re conscious of is the outside world. That’s a nice discussion I always thought I having with you when consciousness. I’s gonna use the word descends. I don’t know what word you wanna use it, like, let’s get that outta the bay. Consciousness has always existed. What do you mean my consciousness?
No consciousness right now. It’s really beautiful. The, the state of physics that we’re in with quantum physics, and you don’t have to be a genius to get the general idea of what they found out. There are no atoms. Atoms are not the core particles. There are no particles. There are no particles. This whole concept that the universe is made outta these little dots put together, all right?
There’s just a field, and they call it the quantum field, and the quality that they know of it is that it’s omnipresent. The only time I ever heard the word omnipresent used was to talk about God until I was reading something from NASA about the quantum field, and it said the quantum field is omnipresent.
That is so important. It means there are 2 trillion galaxies that we know of. You know how big that is? I always tell you how big this place is. It’s really big. The quantum field is everywhere. It made everything it. All the stars, all the, every single thing in creation comes out of this omnipresent field called a quantum field.
It’s not particles. It’s a field that can get agitated, that can create wavelets. Just like an ocean is a field, a body of water is a field. It’s not a dot that’s in between a particle and a field. A field can be everywheres, so the quantum field is everywheres and there are forces that come out of it.
That cause a wavelet. That’s what they call it, a wavelet, a little agitation, that basically it starts a vibration. That’s what it is, a vibration. It is those vibrations interacting with each other that create the universe, and the scientists today can do it for you, and that is unbelievable. They dunno what the quantum field is.
If you ask what’s the quantum field? It’s just there. You know what it takes for them to see that even one drop for a microsecond, that a wavelet took place. It takes the entire large headwind collider. They miles and miles from France to Switzerland and they’re colliding protons and photons into each other, and then boom, they see, oh, it disappeared, it came back.
That is what’s underlying the whole thing, is this omnipresent field. Very good. Everything comes out of that and they can predict, they can talk about what causes, or even down there, there’s cause and effect. The basic model has corks and leptons and boons and talk about their qualities and because they have a certain quality of spin and color, very complicated, but they’re saying it’s cause and effect that if two up corks and a down cork get together, you got a proton and two down corks and up cork and a neutron.
They know all this. It’s all cause and effect, even at that level. So there is a universe, a universe. Of a field. Where does the field come from? Now here’s a part I just have to share with you. Now you’re into yoga. The scientists do not know what that quantum field is made of or where it came from. They don’t.
They just, it’s not our place. We just talk about what it does and explain what effect it has on creation. Yogis, deep yogis from thousands and thousands of years ago focused on consciousness instead of form. I. They were more interested in where’s my consciousness come from? Not where’s the form come from?
Both are wonderful. It’s neat that we did both, but the science of yoga did not study the outside world. It got fascinated by who’s looking at the outside world, who’s in here, aware that there’s an outside world, which is more important, how the outside world got there or that I even know it’s there. Okay.
And they tried to work their way back to what consciousness is in order to do that is very simple, not simple to do. Okay? And this is the keyword I use all the time. Okay. While my consciousness, my awareness of being is distracted by the outside world, I will never know who I am. Because my awareness is not focused on the core of my source of awareness.
It’s focused on what I’m distracted by. I’m aware of her. Well, then I’m not aware of me. I’m not aware of who’s aware of her. And the more interesting she is, the more I’m aware of her and the less I’m aware of me, my conscious and my awareness of being. I’m so glad that we. Set this foundation this time.
My awareness of being is a little bit too aware of what it’s aware of and because it’s so aware of what it’s aware of, it is not aware of itself. If I stare at something and become fixated on it, that’s my universe. If I’m truly fixated on it, that’s it. There’s nothing else in my universe because my universe is where my consciousness is.
I told you, if you’re not aware of it, it doesn’t exist. So basically when you get distracted, and what does distracted mean? My consciousness was somewhere. Now it’s somewhere else. How it got pulled over there? Does it do that? Do you get distracted? Okay. That’s the beauty of understanding consciousness and this interaction with form.
So if something outside distracts your consciousness. Then that’s where your consciousness is. Well, when you drop into the body, when consciousness drops into the body, it is rather distracting. There’s all these feelings and hungers and pains, and a lot of stuff comes up from the body, doesn’t it? Forget the outside world, just being in a body.
Does it distract you being in the body? Is it distracting the messages that are coming from the body? Just the body? Forget the rest of the world. When the baby drops into the thing, that’s just body. All right? I says that’s what it is dealing with, is dealing. Oh my God, I dropped into this. Ah, I dropped into this thing, and it is thirsty and it’s hungry, and it’s scared and it doesn’t understand anything, and he can’t relate to anything.
Okay? That’s where it started. It drops down there, so that’s distracting. Then what happens to try to make it not distracting and not freaky, even a baby. You use your mind, you start developing in this thing called mind, that’s not the self. But is mine. I’m gonna do it quickly. The physical plane is alpha to omega, is the vibration rates like in the light spectrum goes from what?
Ultra violet, whatever it is, down to radio waves. There’s just all these vibration rates. That’s all. They are vibration rates and they create everything. They create light, they create Oh, form comes out of form the quantum field. Okay. There it is. The mental plane. First of all, do you have a mind? Mm-hmm.
How do you know? ’cause you’re conscious. There we are again. ’cause you’re aware. I should have asked you, do you have thoughts? Do you have thoughts? A wide variety. There are thoughts. Do they exist here? Can I see them and measure them with my instruments? No. Why? I know they exist. To a physicist, they don’t exist.
You sit there. Oh, Mr. Physicist. Mr. Physicist, I see the boat. I see the Queen Mary figment of your imagination. What’s that? Where’d that come from? The figment of imagination. There’s something there. I see the thing. I can make whatever thought I want in my mind, can’t I? Mm-hmm. Well, it’s there where? Not here.
Not on the physical plane, what we call the physical plane, but that’s not even fair. There was a time we didn’t know there were x-rays. There was a time we didn’t know there was ultraviolet ’cause we didn’t have instruments that could measure it. When we measured that stuff, we started measuring that stuff.
They said it’s a physical plane. We just weren’t able to measure it. Before. Your mental plane, the plane in which your thoughts exist, they’re at a higher vibration rate. Then what you call the physical plane. Someday they may, and I won’t be here, thank God, develop instruments that are sensitive enough that they will pick up your thoughts.
I don’t wanna discuss it. What they will do with that, when they decide what thoughts you’re allowed to have, and so basically there was a higher vibration rate of creation. The physical, now the mental, and then there’s the emotional. They’re different. The mental pain and emotional pain are different. You know that if I ask you where are your thoughts?
You do not point at your foot. And by the way, you don’t point at your heart either. You point at your head. That is where your center of sensitivity, that picks up those high vibration range of thought. You’re an amazing being. The scientists can’t. Pick that up. But you pick it up all the time. You pick up mental and emotional, don’t you?
That’s because the self, the consciousness is able to pick up everything. And so if it pays attention to the higher vibration rate, which it does, why? Because it gets distracted. Do you get distracted by your thoughts? Ha ha, ha. Do you get distracted by your emotions? Can you get so distracted by your emotions?
You don’t get outta bed and you don’t wanna talk to anybody and you don’t shower? Yes or no? That means you got distracted down here. No, I’m not down. I ain’t doing much down here anymore. There is a plane called the emotional plane. There’s a plane called the mental plane. And the self, the consciousness is able to experience all of those.
How hard is it for you to notice your thoughts about As hard as it is to see the world, maybe even easier, your thoughts can distract you, so you can’t see the world very well. How hard look, how hard is it for you to be conscious of your thoughts? You wish you couldn’t. How hard is it for you to be conscious of your emotions?
The self is conscious of everything. It’s the highest thing in the universe. I’m just showing you why. It is able to experience all planes at once. Simultaneously. You’re gonna have thoughts, emotions. You look outside and it creates a thought and it creates an emotion. They’re just, boom. The self is called a seer.
I am. I’m in here. And I’m experiencing what’s going on, and we know what’s going on is all those different levels, they go on at once. So what happens is you drop it in the body and you’re totally distracted by that. It’s very distracting. Have you noticed how distracting the body is? Oh, he up my toe. I don’t wanna get away and they, I got a splinter.
I say, oh, itching. I’m sick. I eat wrong. There’s always something going on with the body. Okay, that is distracting. Again, I’m using that word. What does it mean it’s distracting? That’s a very big word. That means your sense of self awareness of being cannot exist in its center, in its source. In itself, it gets distracted by the object of consciousness.
That’s everything that’s going on. So first it’s distracted by the body. Then what happens is you have a mind. It’s an amazing thing. It can think, it can put pieces together. It can. It’s amazing. It’s a computer. You have a built in computer. It doesn’t need a keyboard. It doesn’t need speech recognition.
You just. Whatever you want it to do. It does. Think of a boat, think of your mother. Think of experience you had. That was nice. Think of what you, you had that was bad. Don’t, ’cause you’ll get caught, right? And so basically it just does whatever you want. Just ’cause your intent is just an amazing thing. And so what happens is you’re dropped into the body.
It’s not comfortable. You got all kinds of stuff and you need to figure out how to be okay. And how do you figure it out with your mind? And a me, but can’t do much, but Jere mind can. And so it’s there and it goes, mommy, I want my mommy. Your mind has become programmed by the experience of having mother hold you.
It experienced that it didn’t just come and go, it experienced it, and it made an impression on your mind. So now when you’re not comfortable, there’s something you can do about it. You can cry for mommy. Okay? Then the next thing happens. The next thing happens, and all of a sudden, every amount that you interact with the world have experiences, leaves these impressions on your mind, which says, I like that.
I don’t like that. I want that, and I don’t want that. Does anybody have likes and dislikes? Does anybody have preferences of what they want to happen or what they don’t want to happen? Where are they? I don’t. The world doesn’t have preferences. The nature’s amazing. It comes in with a tornado. A hurricane that rips everything into pieces, flooding everything, and the next day, city shut.
Well, thanks a lot. It doesn’t have preferences, it has laws that cause things to be the way they are. Are they just gimme a break? Are they moral? Who’s defining that? So the world’s out there doing its thing, but you’re in here. Developing these preferences of what made me feel good and what made me feel bad and what I want to happen again and what I don’t want to happen again.
That is in your mind. Otherwise it came and went. But you develop these impressions called some scars and yoga. These impressions, they got left on your mind. How they get left there? I tell right now I drive by tons of white lines on the road. Every day. Some are dash, some are solid, some are double, some are yellow, some are white.
They don’t get stuck on my mind. I don’t find myself thinking about that at night, which I don’t tell everybody about it. When I get to work, I experience them. They pass through my mind. But they didn’t get stuck in my mind. Can I bring them back? Maybe I could bring back, well, in that segment, you know, you, you got arrested because you passed on a double line.
You trying to think, well, I don’t think it was double. Right. You can try and bring it back, but it doesn’t come back by itself. But if something happens, exact same thing, something happens and it comes in and it hits you wrong, what does that mean? Or right, let’s start with wrong. What does that mean? It didn’t feel good when it came in.
I always use the example of a rattlesnake coiled. They don’t feel good when they’re rattling in front of you. I don’t have to touch ’em. That’s not the kind of feeling I’m talking about. I’m saying the vibration they’re giving off. Buddhists say everything has its nature. That rattlesnake has a nature, doesn’t it?
It gives off its nature. It’s not just its physical form. It has a vibe. A butterfly doesn’t have that vibe. So basically they come in and you, the consciousness experience them and it doesn’t feel good. The vibration isn’t pleasant, and so what do you do exactly the same? Is that baby exactly the same you’ve done your entire life.
I don’t want to experience this. I don’t want to experience this, but you did. Otherwise it wouldn’t mean her. You can diminish the experience of it. By doing what as it comes in itself, starts experiencing it. What if you use your will to push away the experience? You do have willpower in there, don’t you?
Can you make things happen in there? It happen by themselves. Wait, I specifically, have you ever resisted an experience? Mm-hmm. That’s funny. What does that mean? The self. What’s literally happening, your power of will is the self gets distracted by it. Whatever strongest distracts you and it focuses on it, that focus is willpower.
Just like you take a magnifying glass and hold it out there during the sunny day, all of a sudden there’s this one point that catches a leaf on fire. The concentration of energy creates force. Your consciousness is chich conscious energy, and when you focus your consciousness, it’s the greatest power in the universe.
It created the universe. Consciousness is tremendously power, and when you focus it, it focuses its power there it. And that’s where resistance can come from. When you focus on it, you can do one or two things, cling. I like that. I don’t want it to go away. I like what you said to me. I’m gonna think about it all day.
She said it for one second. I mean, think about it all day. I did not let it pass. Did I, I focused my consciousness on it, held onto it, but call it clinging, and now it stayed in there, or I didn’t like it, and my reaction was to resist it. That’s a good word. And when I resisted it, I focused my consciousness on it and pushed it away, both clinging, resisting just opposites of the same force.
In both cases. It stayed in your mind. Why? Because you held it there. This is so important. So first it distracted you ’cause it felt good. It distracted you ’cause it felt bad. And distraction means pulled your consciousness to it. And yoga, they say consciousness is chich ti conscious energy. They’re the deep yogis.
Studied and found by going way down in there, back there. It’s conscious energy. Well, when I concentrate the sun, it looked like it was light, but now it’s force. Now it’s energy. It can burn things. Concentrating Chi Shockti focuses it and keeps it in your mind. Freud called it suppression or re oppression, or.
Denial, or I call it resistance ’cause those are just all different psychological terms of how bad did you try to not experience it. What yoga deals with is resistance. You just resisted it. Who resisted it? You know, you resist things. What does that mean? Now you understand? It means your consciousness got distracted enough to move.
Its focused power onto it, to not let it come closer to you. Have you ever seen something like a sunset or a hug, let’s say the sunset’s neutral, right? You turn the corner, there’s. Gorgeous. All the colors, everything like that, does it distract you from your worries and your thoughts and this and that, right?
And you know what you say to somebody, it blew my mind. Oh, I love it. In other words, your mind was there doing this, and it blew my mind it wasn’t doing it anymore. And then you say things like, it touched me to the core of my being. I felt like I was in the presence of God. You were. Why? Because that’s what’s back there.
And because it blew your mind. You weren’t being distracted by all this garbage. It made it all the way through. I was talking about sometimes an intimate experience can make it all the way through. It can melt in love. I mean, little melt. You’re not there. How you like that? How else gonna happen, right?
You’re sitting there, it starts to melt. I’m gonna embarrass you. It starts to melt. All of a sudden your mind says, well, we’re not so fast. Not so fast. I’m gonna get hurt. I got hurt before. I don’t wanna get hurt again. Slow down. Yes or no. In other words, it distracted you enough. The beauty of the experience distracted you enough to where it started to go all the way through, and then your mind said, nah, my watch, and let’s see how much money he makes first.
Now your mind has distracted you. Your thought has now distracted you from the merger experience from something like that. Okay? If you’re getting this, you’re getting everything you need to understand spirituality and the entire process of life, right? So you resist things like everything. You hear me?
Like everything a car passes you. Can a car pass you without your mind doing anything about it? What’s your rush, buddy? That’s so dangerous and you tell everybody about it. It didn’t make it through you. Why? There’s only one reason that anything, anything is stuck inside of you. You held it there. It’s empty in there, but there’s this will.
You have the ability to hold things in there and you tell me how much you’ve held. People sit there and say, well, you don’t understand what I went through in my childhood. I don’t understand my child anymore. Why is it in there? Because I held it in there. How do you like holding it in there? It bothers me all the time.
Someday you’ll take ownership ’cause it doesn’t belong in there. But you don’t understand how bad it was, right? Or a divorce or something. Anything. It doesn’t matter. When did you get divorced? Six years ago. How you doing? Are you kidding me? You can’t go through what I went through and not be screwed up for the rest of your life.
You held that in there. Otherwise events come and go. If you don’t resist them, you experience them, but I don’t wanna experience them. I don’t want to have experienced what it was like to go through the divorce. I don’t want to experience the childhood I went through. I don’t want to have broken my arm when I was little, and now I’m afraid of doing things.
In other words, you’re literally holding it in there. What do you do when it comes back up? You push it back down. Then you are literally holding it in there. What power are you using to hold it and push back down your willpower? You are not using atomic energy, solar energy, wind power, even. You’re not using coal.
You’re not using any of the forms of energy that can cause force to take place on this plane, but yet it happens, doesn’t it? You have will in there and you didn’t ever learn how to use it properly. You use it instinctually. What does that mean? I didn’t like it, so I pushed it away. Take a swing at me. My arms are going up.
Say something to me. My arms are going up inside. You’ve got the whole thing going inside that goes on outside. If you can hear this once in your life, it will change your life. ’cause you learn how to live in there. You realize that no one ever touched you anything. They didn’t, they didn’t teach you anything.
They said Don’t do that. Go to your room, but shut up. No buts. Suppress it. It’s so amazing. Right? Don’t act like that. Don’t be like that. Don’t wear that. Don’t say that. And then what do you do? I, I, I, I’m in here, but I don’t get to be in here this way. I boom. You push everything down. Okay? You should be married by now.
I haven’t met anybody. You should have.
I wanted grandchildren. Get to work, laugh all you up. You’re in this world. And that’s what it’s like in there, isn’t it? All these forces, everything you’ve held onto all the garbage. That is what it’s like in there because you stored everything there, felt too good and there weren’t that many of those, or bothered you even slightly.
Hi Sally. And Sally keeps walking. Well, what did I do? What’s wrong? Why is she cold shouldering me? What’s, what’s going on here? I thought she liked me. Oh my God. What if George told her what I said last year? No, I didn’t really mean, should I call her? Because somebody didn’t say hello when they walked by.
You wanna live like that. What kind of life is that? And then what do you do? You have to do everything to make sure it doesn’t happen. You have to make sure that Sally, Sally, don’t you ever ignore me again? That hurt me terribly. If I say hello, I don’t care if you were busy thinking something else or had earbuds on.
Take ’em off when I’m around. And you just basically tell the world be the way I need you to be so that the stuff I stored inside doesn’t get hit. How’s that for statement outside world, everybody and everything, every moment be the way I need you to be so that when it comes into me, it doesn’t bother me.
And why does it bother me? ’cause I have this history of things that bothered me. I stored them all. And if you look, smell or taste, anything like them, we’re in big trouble. And you’re in there living with that. No. I don’t want you to live with that, and you do not have to live with that. So now you don’t understand what’s happening.
So now you’ve stored all this stuff inside. When psychology says, man is the sum of his learned experience, that’s not true. You are the consciousness aware that this garbage inside is the sum of your learned experiences. But man’s the sum of learned experience. That’s quite a statement that’s saying everything I just said, that you’ve had experiences and they programmed you.
He likes that. She likes that. He liked that yesterday. He hates it today. You’re being programmed by what things feel like and how you react to them. And then they build on top of each other. I gave you an example, beautiful sunset, all colors all over the place, okay? And it melts your heart, not him. I. His girlfriend dumped him when they went out to look at one of those sunsets.
She says, okay baby, this is sunset for sure, or sunsetting this relationship and now all of a sudden you don’t wanna see no sunsets ever again. Rest of your life, you’re being programmed. It’s just like a computer program. They’re leaving impressions on your mind be Why do they have to? No, they don’t have to.
It’s because you are resisting them. Well, you sat there and said, somebody said, you okay? This is it. You said, really? Wow, that’s exciting. How’s it feel? Terrible. That’s really fun. If you are open, that’s called being open. Come on. We start using the vernacular. If you are open, experiences come in. You don’t not experience them.
They all feel good. Of course not. They have different vibration rates. Does it feel good to have a rattlesnakes cold? You walking into the woods, right? No. Is it neat? It can’t be. Mm-hmm. Can you sit there and say, I’ll never take a walk on the woods again? Or I can sit there and say, wow, I gotta watch where I step.
And this is, this is, I wondering for another one? It’s up to you. It’s up to you. What do you wanna do with this stuff that’s coming in? ’cause it’s up to you if what’s happening is you’re reacting to the energies inside. A wise, centered being is in there, experiencing life. They’re not, not experiencing life, they’re just welcoming life.
I don’t have to hold it. If I’m a a married woman with a tense pro who’s really handsome and flirting, I can be there. I can notice it, I can experience it, and I can feel all this beautiful love and take it home to my husband. I don’t have to go running around and do all that kind of stuff. And if you saw a movie with Marilyn Monroe flirting around, and now it’s your turn.
Alright? And the next thing you know, you get all this stuff reacting inside of you, and you’re not conscious and say you’re not conscious. That means you’re not centered in the seat of conscious enough to notice what’s going on. What’s going on is I’m noticing that this guy’s flirting with me and my energy’s feeling pretty good.
You okay with that? No, I want it to happen more. There we go. There’s a problem, right? Why can’t we just say, well, thanks. Go home and go back to your business. Had a nice experience. What’d you do with it? Nothing. It was just an experience. There’s lots of them. You know what happened when I left there? There was another experience, then another one.
It’s amazing. There’s just constantly experiences and they’re all amazing. It’s just amazing. I don’t have to cling and I don’t have to resist. Okay, so I went there and I’m having my little tennis lesson. I’m doing fine. It’s nice. And then someone looks at me and says, I can’t believe I. The way he was flirting with you and you let him do that.
Now I feel guilty there. I felt good. Now I feel bad. No, I feel wonderful. Fine. Thank you. Oh, thank you. That’s one of you. Nice judgmental person. Fantastic. It’s called being open. It’s called being willing to experience reality. It’s not good or bad or right or wrong, it just is. The question is, can you let it come in and go through?
And the answer is of course not. You can learn to. Spirituality is a statement, a sister, and says, I am in here, check and I am okay in here. How would you like to always be okay in there? No matter what happens out here? Hmm. How would you like to always be okay in there? Now talking really high. Always be okay in there.
Even if a scary emotion comes up. How would you like to always be okay in there? Even if some mental impression from the past comes back, you can always be okay in there. Consciousness is always okay, and by the way, it’s not okay. It’s what we call nda. Eternal conscious ecstasy. That is the nature of what’s in there, and don’t you dare think it’s not.
You have eternal conscious ecstasy, meaning the whole universe forever blowing inside of you at the highest you’ve ever felt, looking at your garbage and paying attention to your garbage, instead of feeling that that’s what tells you. That’s what the great masters found out. By meditating and letting go.
Enough inside, they just merged. They merged with the whole universe. You are a great being. You are beyond. Great. What did Christ say? My father and I are one. Well, the yoga knows what that means. You stopped staring at yourself and you found out the nature of self. Buddha found it too. Nirvana. You’re it man.
Not your ego. Don’t take this ego. Why he start staring at you. I’m in. No, that causing a lot of trouble. Alright? I wanna know, God, stop leaving. It’s not, how do I get back to God? How do I stop getting distracted from God? ’cause that’s who you are. And what you do is you learn to handle reality. That’s I’m saying.
When it comes down to it, can I handle the fact? I got somebody beeped at me. I have the littlest things. I’m looking at my smartphone and I’m at the stoplight, and I didn’t pay enough attention and the car behind me, man. Okay. Are you okay with that? I get a little embarrassed. I told you it was once. That I was in a situation like that and somebody beeped at me and we’re driving down the road and all of a sudden it’s two lane and I’m in the second lane and he or she pulls up in the first lane.
Mickey didn’t wanna pull up next to them, so I would have to look at them ’cause I had got beeped at, uh, you had nothing like that inside of you. Laugh all you want. And so what you do is you say. This ain’t working very well and it’s my fault. It’s not that guy’s fault for beeping. It’s not the other person’s fault for having a hard day and yelling at me.
It’s my fault for not being able to handle reality, and I’ve stacked that up so many times. That is a mess in here. And I need things to be a certain way for me to be okay and I’m sensitive. What does it mean to be she’s sensitive? What does that mean? There’s so much stuff in there that everything hits it and you get to the point and then have to stop.
I don’t wanna stop. You are a great being. You’re beautiful. You’re filled with love, you’re filled with ecstasy, you’re filled with joy, you’re filled with enthusiasm and excitement. When you wake up in the morning, I’m back. And you’re not worried about what’s gonna happen ’cause you know you’ll be fine.
And it’s exciting and it’s challenging. And life as a sport. And you just do your best and every moment and everything’s that way. Can it be tough? Sure. It can be tough. Athletes, they get tough challenges, don’t they? You watch these athletes, they’re so good at what they do, and then somebody’s better. Oh my God.
But they work their whole lives and they enjoy it. They love it, and it’s a challenge. Life is a contact sport. Here’s the line. God plays hardball, doesn’t he? Stop blaming. Stop complaining. I mean, there’s your choice. Use it, enjoy it. Participate in it. Do your best. There’s no success or failure. If you’re learning the piano practice, then I made a wrong note.
That’s why you’re practicing. Well, I get married and it didn’t work out. So good. Okay, try it again. No, I’ll never get married again. I want anything to do with this. Well, whatcha doing? You’re saying I couldn’t handle the experience I went through. I wanna tell you how bad it was, so you understand you wouldn’t have handled it either.
Don’t do that. Sit there and say, I wanna handle it. I want to be okay. I want to feel love. I want to bring love down into the world. It’s called unconditional wellbeing. That’s what I want for you. Unconditional. What does that mean? There are no conditions in which it won’t happen. Are you willing to at least take a breath?
That’s who you are. The rest is this stuff you stored inside that’s very difficult to let go of and deal with when it starts making all its noise. And the spiritual path is called working on yourself. How I can give so simple, I teach it in living and tether. I lay it down. You will not do it with the big things.
You can’t. They’re too big. They’re overwhelming. They leave you in a state of depression, a state of fear, a state of anxiety, right? And the whole world looks that way. The world has to come in through your mind for you to see it. You ain’t seeing what’s out there. You’re seeing what’s that pass through the filter of your mind.
And so you sit there and say, okay, I’ll start with the small things. I’ll start with the beep. I’ll start with he said something. I’ll start with the fact that it’s raining when I don’t want it to. I’ll start with these little things. I can do those. I can be positive about those. I can change my attitude about those.
You are gonna find if you do this, a practical piano, a practical sport, you do that. You’ll be better at the bigger ones than the bigger ones and the bigger ones, and eventually something really big will happen. Somebody will take you something. You get a terrible disease. You have this. You have that here.
Somebody’s leaving you who you love, right? These are terrible things and you can handle ’em. Why? Because I learned to handle terrible things. I learned to handle what doesn’t feel good. I didn’t sit there and say, if it doesn’t feel that I can’t handle it, I said, I can handle it until eventually you can handle everything.
You’re a great being and you bring light to the, what does that mean? You bring light into our world. Other people can’t handle things. They see that you can handle them. That’s very inspiring that. Just, I can’t go. I gotta stop. It’s just so special to sit there and work on yourself instead of working on everybody else trying to change everything else so it don’t bother you and be the way you want it to be.
A lot easier to change it. Sucker in here dealing with one instead of billions. Alright. We just discussed the spiritual path, haven’t we? Free yourself, liberate yourself. There’s no end to how high you are. How beautiful. It’s.
